I am an independent, San Francisco-based editor with a background in both fiction and non-fiction ranging from the serious and literary to the quirky and offbeat. I have a passion for short story collections, historical fiction, humor, and scientific books written for a mainstream audience.
I began my editing career in New York, where I worked first at The Paris Review and then at Times Books, an imprint of Henry Holt & Company. Since moving to San Francisco in 2006, I have been an editor for Chronicle Books, a reader at Zoetrope: All-Story, and an art editor for Flavorpill. In addition to publishing, I am devoted to improving access to literacy and education, and I teach English and composition to college degree-seeking inmates enrolled in the College Program at San Quentin State Prison. I'm a graduate of Columbia University, where I studied English literature.
